Unscented!!!

3rd feeding, and I got my WC W. Lancaster Mojave Glossy snake (Arizona elegans candida) to take unscented rodents! He's a sub-adult, about 2.5', and ate 2 good sized hoppers for me last night. I had been using a local sceloporous lizard to scent his first 2 rodent meals with. He eats the first mouse in front of me, but the second he always waits until I'm gone to eat. Man, is he ever calm to handle. Like to go out to the same spot where I found him, and find a female for him. Pics coming as soon as I develope them.

Well good.

I know a fellow that has brought back a few young glossies over the years from the low desert, and like yours, each took unscented mice in a short time. Attractive snakes, nice attitude.

Wow. That's good and interesting. I'd like to try a captive breeding project w/ these guys. How big were the ones he brought back? I always worried about bringing back ones too small because I was warned that they would not eat in captivity.

One was quite small. It took lizard-scented thawed pinks, then moved onto pinks within a month. He kept that snake for years, and it got bigger than I ever knew glossies could get. Really nice pet.

Thanks for the info. There is very little info (at least that I've found) out there about the various ssp of Glossies in captivity. I'm very curious as to whether anyone's ever tried to breed these guys in captivity, and if so, what were the results.
