Young Green Iguana feeding.....

Eidechsemann Aug 03, 2003 08:53 PM

I just got a young (two month) green iguana on Friday. Every morning I put mustard greens, collared greens and escarole in a dish for him but he hasn't eaten them. Today, I put in two small pieces of peaches and I don't see them now, so he must've gobbled them up. I know that fruit is only supposed to be offered once in a great while. I'm aware that it takes new arrivals time before they eat the right stuff, but how long? Thanks!

My iguanas always attack the fruit first. This is normal.
Iguanas HATE change and your iguana is probably experiencing a mini depression. This could last up to 2 weeks.

Two other possible problems are inadequate heat/light and worms.
Take a fecal to a vet with reptile experience. Pin worms are common.
