I'll netflix it - I doubt I'll see it in the theatre.
I rarely go to the theatre. Why pay a bunch of money to have some jackass playing with a laser pointer while the kids in front of you can't stop themselves from talking?

OK - that doesn't happen all the time, but I still prefer to see most movies at home. Unless it is something like LOTR or I'm treating my little brothers, I'm not going to see it in a theatre.

Snakes on a Plane doesn't have the plot to get my money. It has the snakes to get my rental, though.

. . .there's cable (and not the pay-for-view channels either). I refuse to pay money to be aggrevated, indignant or worse.

The movie is supposed to be stupid.Im just going to see the snakes anyway, if the movie has some funny parts or even good parts well thats a bonus.
To me movies are for entertainment purposes only, if its not entertaining then its not a good movie.

I also watch movies if it has a particular animal Im interested in too..I want to see Beastmaster really bad but its not available to rent, I just want to see the ferrets, my second love..

LarryF Aug 11, 2006 02:21 PM

Yeah, think of it as a cartoon with real people in it. I'll probably go opening night, but at midnight when all the other weirdos are out. I'm hopong for something like Rocky Horror...but with snakes.

(But then, I liked The Fifth Element and Mystery Men too.)

quincy Aug 11, 2006 02:59 PM

Ive got the special edition dvd..But then I love most Scifi..

yoyoing Aug 11, 2006 03:28 PM

That is the spirit. I was thinking of going with a snake hook or some other piece of snake apparatus. Toss a few rubber snakes around and enjoy.

PS What I didn't know until recently is that the movie is adapted from a book and actually has a plot, which I won't give away.

>>Toss a few rubber snakes around and enjoy.

I was actually thinking of going with one of my nice rubber snakes around my neck (I'm just fraid they won't let it in.) Please don't be throwing them around though. Save that for when it comes out on DVD. A rubber snake falling on someone who's borderline phobic can be pretty bad...

I have a dozen of them... And not one of them has a freaking neck!

Oh definately. I'm going opening day. I love snakes and I love cheesy movies. This might be the best cheesy movie about snakes ever made. Better than Anaconda and Anaconda 2 put together.

Thanks. He's my first and still my favorite. I got him when he was a hatchling last summer. He's a little more than three feet now and It's only been a little over a year. I can't wait till this time next year. The way he's going I might have to start feeding him baby elephants by then. lol

im not going to see it...just plain stupid the thought of these "snakes" supposidly going around the plane hunting ppl ...i mean come on...do pigs fly ?

LarryF Aug 12, 2006 11:32 PM

>>...i mean come on...do pigs fly ?

No, but imagine a movie with Samuel L. Jackson hunting flying pigs!

"I've had it with these blanker blanking pigs....."

(Of course, if you see no humor in that, you should probably skip this movie, you won't enjoy it.)

reako45 Aug 13, 2006 12:58 AM

I'm definitely gonna go see it, and enhance my movie-going experience by sneaking a few beers into the theatre along w/ those rubber snakes so it'll be all the more enjoyable.

I doubt if I will even watch this movie for free if it hits TV. The movie appears to be one big cliché. It doesn't look like it has anything entertaining to offer. I saw Anaconda and thought it was terrible and this movie's trailer does not offer hope it is any better. I would rather watch an old Godzilla movie.

Sorry, but give me an old classic, a good comedy or drama, or something with good character development.

I will watch the Crocodile Hunter if I know he is finally going to get eaten however LOL.

Im very disappointed to see that people in the hobby will actually be paying money to support a movie like this.

All it is is another attempt to exploit our animals solely for money and by paying your money to see it, you just encourage more movies like it. We all spend enough time trying to avoid ignorance, correct misinformation, or educate and all this movie will do is set things back even further. As a burm owner, Im disgusted that there is one of my animals in that movie.

I sincerely hope that everyone reconsiders supporting this movie and takes a stand AGAINST it. It really will just set out hobby and our animals back.

THANKYOU!!
I'm appalled to see these responses. I've watched thru my lifetime man's every attempt to reduce nature to a pulp & more specifically, to view snakes & other reptiles as vile, menacing & evil. Hollywood capatilizes on this. How can any true reptile lover spend a dime to view a piece of crap that's designed to engender fear in the hearts of ophdiophobes? Believe it or not, there's a bunch of folks out there that truly see this bull[bleep] as real. Hoopsnakes, snakes that milk cows, snakes that chase people, snakes that swallow their young to protect their young, on & on & on.
Grow up folks. Don't reward Hollywood for their effort to perpetuate reptile fears.

yoyoing Aug 18, 2006 10:11 AM

The movie also capitalizes on the fear of flying (one of the safest means of transportation available). Should the movie be boycotted on the basis of this as well?

devil421 Aug 18, 2006 11:55 AM

The difference is that aviation has gobs of lobbyists, money, "studies", and every other possible way to educate the public. We all have heard the "flying is the safest method of travel", right? Thats their resources in action. We dont have those resources. That really is an apples to oranges comparison.

yoyoing Aug 18, 2006 12:17 PM

Exploiting fear of any variety (for entertainment) makes the comparison valid. Yes, more common exposure to flying makes people realize the fear is irrational. Some going to the movie are probably interested in this aspect of the thriller for entertainment purposes however. I likewise believe that most people recognize a fear of snakes is irrational (even if they suffer from it). I cannot see how a movie obviously meant to titillate is going to CREATE a further fear of snakes or flying. People who already kill snakes will continue to do so. People who don't fly will continue in that behavior. I really have a hard time believing that any patterns will be altered by this particular movie.
