Hi, My Roaches came quicker than I thought and I have them in 58 qt Rubbermaid containers. I have been reading all day about their care ect and found that I need to put screen in the lid top of these containers for the best air flow for them. So I bought the screen and glue gun and glue sticks but I wanted to ask how its done so I do not mess up a lid. Do I put the screen on the inside and glue or on the outside? Also, How big should I make the hole. Any info on this is extremely appreciated! Just so you know I have Lobsters in one container, Orange Heads in one container and Orange spotted in one container. I would keep the screen on the outside. When I have done this in the past I used a combination of rivets and hot glue.

I like it on the outside as it will be easier to keep track of how well it's sticking or peeling away, etc.

For roaches I prefer to make the hole big. The more ventilation the better when it comes to odor control.

I've never had to do that before, but in the interest of your urgency, I'll shoot an answer out.

I'd say cut a good size hole in the top, turn it upside down, and lay the screen across the hole. Cut it so theres PLENTY of extra around the edge, and I'd do a double ring of hot glue. Do one around the hole, and then one a little further out as a backup barrier.
Then, if you're STILL not convinced its strong enough, flip the lid over after the glue dries, place a tennis ball under the screen, to create some upward pressure, and run a bead of hot glue around the plastic and screen, this should really mix the glue into the screen holes and help it to bond well.

Hi Guys, Well its working! But the first one I did I used a soI found a knief end to use on the soldering gun got it hot and melted a big hold in the plastic, but then I found the tips for it and used the exacto knife tip and it works alot better. Today I am putting the screen in. Thanks again for your help. Deb
