What are these?

dewey Aug 10, 2006 11:09 PM

I'm new to corn snakes...I've been breeding black rats. I got some eggs from a fellow teacher and I have never seen the adults. I was told one was albino and one was anery. Here is a pic or 2 of the 4 hatchlings. They appear to be motley's to me, but they might also be normals. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dewey

Both of those two babies are normals. Now, they COULD be motlies (though I doubt it), but if they have checkers on their bellies, they aren't. It's not uncommon for normals to have motley-like circles around their necks for a while, but that is not indicative of having the motley gene present.

As to whether the other two are an amelanistic (the albino of which you wrote), or an anerythristic, only some pics for us to see will tell which is what.

Congratulations on the new babies!

...Darin's right. They're very dark and with all that orange at such a tender age, they promise to be seriously colorful corns. Congratulations.
