Distended Ear Drum

I received a large male iguana who has a distended ear drum, a bubble in the middle of the ear surface. There is no sign of infection, the ear canals are clear, and the vet has never seen or heard about anything like it. The bulge can be pushed in but it does have some firmness to it. Does anyone know what it might be?
