Way to go Tim. I've seen the pics of your earthtone adults and they both are beautiful. But I really, really love your adult female. Do the babies end up looking like one or the other? Or kind of a combo of both?

Steve,

Is that a Santa Cruz garter? if so, it's on my "must find" list of California herps.

This is the first year I've produced earthtones. They didn't have eggs last year and I think I bred them too early the year before that, as she had only 7 eggs - all of which were infertile.

I bought the babies from a local breeder. From the hundreds of snakes he had, these were definately different. As they grew I thought that they were perhaps carmel corns, but after looking at tons of photos, I don't think that's the case.

I agree with you that the mom more appealing than the dad color-wise and I imagine the babies will grow up to look "somewhere in between" their parents.

Yes Tim, that's a CB female Santa Cruz baby. 06 hatchling. I just picked her up from Scott Felzer. I also ordered an 06 Puget Sound garter. They have very nice black with sky blue dorsal & side stripes. The pacific coast states without a doubt has some gorgeous thamnophis.
