I came home tonight and one of my baby bullsnakes was out of his cage. Any tips or tricks to locate him? I am a beginner, and have not had a snake get loose yet.

1. Take a quick look around. Be sure to look under anything that makes a hiding place close to the floor or one the floor.

2. Look along the edges of the walls. Snakes usually crawl along edges when they are out.

3. Wait until nightfall, turn of the lights in the room for a half hour or so, then look around with a flashlight, paying particular attention to wall edges.

4. If you have hardwood/tile/linoleum floors, some people recommend sprinkling a little flour on the floor in likely places so you can monitor its progress.

Don't give up. You will find it.

LOL........You got lucky. I have lost several snakes and tarantulas during my 44 years of keeping these animals. I recovered a few snakes and lost a few. I have set up my sanke room so that if a snake gets loose it can not go in the vents or get out the door. Tape screen mesh to your vents in the snake room. and use weather strippimg material or even the stuff used in darkrooms to seal your doors. The best advice I can give is to use every thing you need to prevent an escape. Keep your snakes cage secure at all times. Don't handle your snakes when intoxicated. One time I had to much to drink and passed out while handling my Redtail Boa. I found him in a plant pot. That was hanging a few feet from my head.LOL
