Eye cap retainage question.

Simbo May 20, 2003 09:02 AM

Hello everyone. I have a BCI that had a weird shed recently and has retained one of his eye caps. Obviously, I need to remove this. I was looking for some tips to help me with this. Can anyone help me out? I have heard of people using mineral oil and a Q-tip to remove it. Does this work well?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric

Hi,

What does it look like. I may have the same problem with a Dumeril's boa I just got. It has a dimple or indentation on it's eye as if it were dehydrated. Look down a few posts for advice I received. I could use a bit of help diagnosing my snakes eye problem.

Thanks

Gabe

I will take a picture of my snakes eye before I remove it tonight so you can see what it looks like.

Thanks,

That would be pretty cool. What ever was up with my Dum is gone now. I checked her eye and it seemed normal. Maybe she soaked herself and rubbed it off? It's amazing how much I worry for these darn snakes. I'd be crushed if something serious happened to her. I am new to snakes so still learning the ropes. One thing I think I've realized is that snakes are great to have. My Dumeril's are tame and laid back, my Macklot's is a bit more fiesty but still pretty cool. Almost never bites anymore!
