just for fun (too)

i posted this under the alterna forum but i think about this as far as indigos go as well. how much do you all think a wild caught albino indigo would go for (or captive bred) and what is taking so long for an albino to pop up in a clutch like all these other albinos that keep popping up. i mean the different albino hognoses that pop up, the albino mexican milk that just came out recently, and all of the other tons of albinos that at one time were not.

There is some evidence that an albino Indigo has occurred, but not in North America. If you search the archived forums you may find a pic of what purports to be a dead hatchling albino Eastern Indigo that turned up in a European litter.

As for what you could get for one - who knows! There seems to be enough contoversy on the subject of mutations that there could be a bidding war between those who would want to breed it and those who would want to euthanize it! LOL JUST KIDDING!

If you look at the history of boas and burms, 1st albinos seem to go for at least 50 times the base price. With current prices for an Eastern, you'd be looking at around 55K USD, and likely somewhere north of that when the dust clears.

Let us know when you get one!

How much for a wild caught albino eastern indigo?

Probably 4-5 years probation, a $10,000 fine and not being able to work with reptiles during the probation.

For a wild caught Texas INdigo?

Probably just a fine of a few thousand dollars.

Well, I think you would have one of if not the ugliest snake ever!! It would turn out to be some nasty shade of yellow like PVC that sat in the sun too long!!

The thing that makes it an amazing snake is it's color so you take that away and there's no appeal to it's looks..

Now I'll turn a challange around on you.. What albino looks better then the normal version of the same snake.. Some aren't as bad as other but that albino chondro, come on, I would pay less for it!! People just lost there mind about herps, their value and why most of us are working with snakes.. 99% of the time an albino just hurts the genetics of the snakes they effect and the same would be ever more magnified with an Indigo.. I would pay $2,000 for it just to get it fixed!

This morph trend hasn't happend with any other animal I know of.. And while I don't know why I thank god or in my case Buddha..

Other animals have been "morphed" to greater extremes than snakes. Look at purebred dogs, or goldfish for that matter.

Don't forget the big cats, particularly Tigers and Lions.
