Stowaway

Hi all, I'm new to the forum. Got a question............I was fishing with the brother in law and found a gray treefrog in the live well. Needless to say he/she is now a member of the family. I've got NO experience with hibernating critters and wondered if it was necessary for the health of the frog or can they go without and remain healthy over time? Thanks in advance.

From my understanding, and I could be wrong, hybernation is hard on the little critters, but because of survival issues, they need to do it. I would simply give your frog its ideal temps and keep it that way. If you maybe wanted to breed it, it may have to go through a hybernation period too. Other than that, I don't see why you couldn't keep it non-hybernating.

Thanks for the reply. I've sense found much more online about them then I ever imagined and I guess it's not necessary, but for breeding a cool; down IS suggested.

Yeah, mine's not to keen on me looking in on him when he's calling. I enjoy listening to him, even if it is in the middle of the night! I'm just glad their not both male! lol Then it would be times two, and longer.
