Sharon Moore Hypo/Carmel Hets !!!

boaphile Aug 13, 2006 07:49 AM

A little update:

On July 19th I posted this pic:

This is a full term baby that came out two days before the rest of the litter alone with and wrapped around the "Pre-Birth Waxy Stool" (Turd).

Here he is again after I removed him from the cage:

Here is the turd by itself:

Then two days later, here comes the rest of the litter:

Now that is a whole lot of slugs but a mess of really cool babies too. These are Sharon Moore Hypo/Carmel hets. Their father is one of Sharon's Carmel males that she produced several years ago. Now these are just hets. Here is one of the babies:

I can't wait to see how much nicer the babies are going to be than these puppies are when we breed them! These are only hets so they will be far far better after the next generation! I am very excited to see what happens with these kids!

Hey Jeff congrats that is an exciting litter. Do you have any pics of the dad as an adult? Thanks Vinnie

Very cool but what are they het for? And are those Hypos? I am a bit confused.....it could be due to me just waking up and not having any coffee yet!....LOL

This is a picture of some of the "Carmels" produced by Sharon Moore back in 2001. They are along side a couple normals from the same litter. There were more babies in this litter too. They are clearly at least Hypomelanistic of some sort. Crazy man!

The father of these babies is one of the "Carmel" males Sharon produced in 2001. The babies I produced are all het for "Carmel".

Of course they are some form of hypo. By definition any snake that has a reduced amount of melanin is a hypomelanistic. Boa breeders really need to stop using the awful term "T ." Any boa that is not T- MUST be a T . The two forms of T- are the Kahl and Sharp amelanistics.....all other boas including normals are T boas. The carmels, VPI "T 's", Nic T 's etc etc are all forms of hypomelanism (reduced melanin.)

I guess you can't use the plus sign on this board. So, lets try this.....

Of course they are some form of hypo. By definition any snake that has a reduced amount of melanin is a hypomelanistic. Boa breeders really need to stop using the awful term "T plus." Any boa that is not T- MUST be a T plus. The two forms of T- are the Kahl and Sharp amelanistics.....all other boas including normals are T boas. The carmel, VPI "T plus", Nic T plus, etc etc are all forms of hypomelanism (reduced melanin.)

I am working on tests of the Albinos to prove what they actually are, and why they look the way they do.

Give me 4 years to finish.

The T-plus names are used because the morphs have red-pupils and are some form of amelanism. Just not traditional. A baby Colombian t-plus Albino right out of the dam looks like a traditional Albino, just a LOT more pink! I love this kind of stuff.

Jeff,

That is SOOO awesome. I'm glad to see the project is somewhat revived. I bought 2 of those Carmels back in 2001, and I ABOSLUTLEY loved them. I thought they were some form of T positive actually. Regardless, they were amazing snakes. I have some awesome pictures of them at 5 feet. Well, I was an IDIOT. I overbred my male one year and lost him, and the female he bred gave me a Premie and slug litter, and I bred the female the following year, and she died gravid. I was very sad. I loved the project, and glad to see your work paying off. I wish you the best of luck with those snakes. They are amazing animals. I love all the possibilies of Boa Breeding. You being a Pioneer, I bet you can't believe your eyes now after seeing all the different stuff.

Take Care, Jeremy

The more I see, the more I want, the more I must, the more I can't yet, the more I wish, the more I haven't, the more I have, the more I need, the more I get, the more want and it just goes on and on. When will it all end? It won't. It will just go on and on and on. I am always looking forward to what is yet to come. I can't wait to see what these Carmel animals do for me. I don't do anything for them, the Boas I mean. I try to take good care of them. I try to be nice to them, but they give me so much more than I could ever give to them! It is and has been fantastic to watch everything develop and change over time. It will only get more interesting in the future too. Who knows what the next great BIG thing will be? Nobody does. I just hope I am around to see it whether I am fortunate enough to be involved or not. I can't wait and I can't wait to see what becomes of these wonderful Carmel animals!

...to see some more animals produced from that line.

can you say they are hets? Is the genetics of this morph clearly worked out? I am interested to know if it is because I didn't know that the inheritance, if these are genetic which they certainly look to be, has been established. I would appreciate your update on the genetics of this morph so I can move beyond my current level of ignorance.
