Help needed identifying Caramel clutch

fsr Aug 13, 2006 08:53 AM

Here's one for you genetics folks..........

This Caramel x Caramel pairing produced 12 eggs.....all good(see adult photo).
The female on the right side of the pic had just dropped a second clutch before photo was taken.....all slugs.....that's why she appears so skinny.....but she was not bred a second time.
Anyway, this clutch produced an interesting assortment (see baby photo) and has me wondering about the parents genetics.
This is what I think is in the clutch:
6 Caramel - darker color snakes
2 Butter - Red eyes, light color, same pattern as the Caramels
1 Caramel Stripe - dark striped snake, black eyes
3 Butter Stripe - light colored striped snakes, Red eyes

Did I identify these correctly??
If this is correct, then would both parents be Caramel het for amel and stripe?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian

It is hard to be 100% certain from the photos but I think you are right.
caramels
butters
butter stripes
and a caramel stripe.

and yes that would mean both caramel parents were het amel and het stripe.
very nice

That is right, I would agree that you have it figured out and have some new awesome babies. Brad Lichtenhan

The odds of two caramel animals het for both amel and stripe to produce the triple homozygotes you have in a butter stripe, are only 1 in 16, and yet you had three out of twelve.

Congratulations!

Of course you know that you now owe Murphy your next three clutches, right?
