I own 4 adult yellow ackies and was wondering how to sex them and I am looking for info on breeding them. Are there any good websites or books out there. I cant seem to find much info.
Thanks!

males are generally thicker, act more dominant, wider head and have little "spurs" by the sides of the vent/anus. the females are narrower, narrower head, no spurs by vent. there can be a dominant female also to confuse you. you have 4 together now? how old are they? they can begin producing eggs in under a year, fyi. if the tricks listed above don't help, post a picture of the animals and some of the experts can guess for you....or i'll guess. i'm relatively new to ackies, but not monitors.
I have 3 of them together right now. They turned 1 years old this month. I have had them since they were 4 weeks old and they have been together all along. I have one larger one that is around 2 years old that is seperate from the three. I believe the larger one is a female. Let me break out my camera and I will post some pictures.
Thanks
Two years old and no infertile clutches of eggs yet? May be a male or a female that hasn't had good husbandry (no offense if that sounds bad). Any spurs by the vent. Is s/he thick headed and stocky body or thinner/attenuated form? Pics = good idea.
The older one has always been kept seperate. Pictures are on the way
Sorry for the bad pictures. They did not like the camera. These head shots are the three that are together. FYI everyone gets along.

This is the larger one that lives by itself

Pics of the vent/anus from below? I'm not coming to any conclusions on the top 3. The lone one looks female based on head girth, to me. Any other takers out there? Also, if you have a female of egg laying age (2yrs), i would strongly urge you to get her on a foot or two deep dirt and not cypress mulch. she won't nest in cypress if she does become gravid. Ackies love rock crevices and burrowing in earth. And they lay infertile eggs like chickens even w/o a male present. Sorry i couldn't help more.
.
Take pics of the whole monitor, little parts of very little value to me. Put them in a white bucket, and take a pic of the three together and the lone one, by itself. Have their total lenght fill the frame. That would be far better. Thanks
