Anyway to tell there age

rustybeard Aug 14, 2006 12:17 AM

Hi Rustybeard here. My girlfriend and I own a pair of Leo's we received them at what would seem to be a almost fully grown state. They both weight close to 60grams last time I weighed them. So my question to you is there any way to tell how old they are? I was thinking wieght or length perhaps. Just kinda would like a round about idea. So any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanx

Yeah - I got two from Petco and obviously have no information about their birthdate. I ordered Monet online and she was exactly 1 month old when I got her. She weighed around 10.3 grams. The petco babies each weighed around 5-6 grams on August 4th, and now weigh nearly 9 grams (August 13). Can anybody give me an idea based on weight of how old the little may be? Maybe about a month? The petstore guy guessed they were 2 months old when I got them, but based on my other gecko, I think he just pulled a number out of his... well, you know. Anyway, thanks in advance.

It really depends on how well they were fed and temps, but I would say about 1 month. Most of the one's that go to petstores like petco are sent out right after hatching. They are rarely even fed until they make it to the pet store. No breeder will hold a baby to feed and cage it for any amount of time just to sell it to petco for $1.

Wait till there birthday and count the number of candles on their cake, LOL.

There is no way that I know of to tell that. If they were albinos, patternless, or another newer morph you could know the maximum possible age. However yours could be anywhere between 1 and 30. Do you know there background? Where did you get them? What can they tell you about them?

Well soleil the Female we got from PJ's pet center. She was brought in by someone who found her on there 2nd floor balcony. Soleil's tale was missing and she was pretty shook up. My girlfriend works at PJ's so they offered the leo to her since they know that we have reptiles. The male Zahi is a high yellow which we also got from PJ's pet center for a really good price. Other than that that's all we know about them! Just wanna know wow much time we get to spend with our little guys!
