Kumquat and Tamale *CUTE PICS*

lefty82 Aug 14, 2006 01:22 AM

Okay, my two little petco babies are growing and shedding and eating and I'm a happy mom. Kumquat is the tangerine with spotting going on the head. I notice a slight change in variation with every shed. I'm still a bit baffled about what to expect from Tamale though. Her coloration is very similar to how it was when I bought her - lemon yellow body, orange head and legs, orange gray bands, and 4 dark spots.

Anyway, has anybody ever seen a young gecko that looks like tamale? Her colors are very vivid. I'm assuming she'll probably remain a baldy, and that the very very mild carroting on her tail won't really fill in. But what about her lemon-yellow colors, and those spots? Will the spots dissapear? Even if you don't know, educated guesses are welcome.

Tamale (old pic, 5.3 grams)

Kumquat (old pic, 6.1 grams)

Kumquat and Tamale (8.9 and 8.5 grams, respectively)

Another:

And as another point of interest, is head shape something breeders take into consideration? Kumquat and Tamale have very different shaped heads. I find Kumquat's head to look like an alligator hatchling - very very cute shape. But Tamale seems to have more of a velociraptor thing going on.

Check it out:

They are each beautiful in their own way. Any comments or guesses about morphology will be greatly appreciated!

I have a hypo that looks almost the same as Tamale, but he does not have orange legs. The breeder sold him as a hypo. I bought 4 of them, and they all look very different. As to Tamele's spots, I think that they will fade, at least the ones on the body. I have a hypo adult that I got when it was a baby, and it had about as much spotting as Tamale. Now it doesn't have any on the body. If you would like to see pics of some of my leopards, check out my blog at: tcsleopards1.blogspot.com. Hope that helps1

Thanks for the compliments! I was really shocked to find such nice looking ones at Petco. Not only did most of their geckos have striking colors, they all seemed HEALTHY and after my first experience, that is the most important thing.

Monet was ordered online prior to finding the Petco babies. She (it may be a "he" - I am noticing small bulges under the vent so...) is a normal - maybe a high yellow, but she has good genetics. Her parents were Tremper and Rainwater albino.

Anyway, here are some pics I took today. She just shed.
