For all you breeders out there....

rosey-b Aug 14, 2006 10:08 AM

I know there are a lot of serious breeders out there who produce a lot of babies each year. I was just wondering if anyone has kept records of growth rates of crested geckos. Healthy adult weight is discussed all the time, but what about weight at 3 months, 6 months, etc. Just wondering if anyone has any info.

Im not going to make you exactly happy with my answer .
Crested growth is highly variable. Under ideal conditions of warm temp and fed as much crested gecko diet as they will eat and dusted crickets 3 times a week.its possible to have a gecko reach 35 grams in less than a year.

However ,
cage size (too big too small) can affect this.
Cage mates too many ,or bullies can affect this
If they are not fed crickets just crested gecko diet they will grow slower
If they are fed mostly babyfood they grow even slower yet.
2-3 g's a month is a pretty acceptable growth rate .And even then some months they will jump and other months not grow a bit.
If mine are aprox 20-25 grams at 12 months im satisfied with that usually. As long as they continue to gain and not lose your lizards will do fine.
