Ugh,

I was hoping I'd never have to post here to get help for my beardie but here I am :| About a month ago, my beardie laid about 23 eggs ( infertile 'cause she never met any other beardie and this is the time when she reaches maturity ). Two weeks later, she laid 2 more eggs. A week later, out come 6-8 more eggs. I wake up this morning only to find about 20 eggs laid and shes still goin'. I'm quite concerned at this point because I dunno what to do. She lost a tremendous amount of weight and I'll feed her today with some of her favourite foods. My question is, how the hell do I stop all these eggs from comin' out?? I dunno what to do at this point :|

Thanks in advance,

Concerned and worried Mike

It is normal for an unmated female dragon to lay infertile eggs. Some females can lay 4 times a season sometimes 20 eggs each time. What most likely happened is you didn't provide a laying bin for her, and she didn't lay all the eggs at once. Causing her to lay eggs sporaticaly as she was filling up. Most of the time you can feel the eggs in the stomache, and the female will start scratching along the bottom and sides of the cage. This is sign she is ready to lay, and time to move her to a laying bin. Most people use a rubbermade container with half soil half sand, a mixture that will pack and allow the female to dig a hole without it caveing in. Check out www.Dachiu.com they give a good description of what to do. Let her finish laying, and after give her a nice warm bath. Make sure she gets fluids now cause dehydration after laying is common. Also I would up her calcium intake (supplement a little more) cause the shell of the eggs take calcium from the body. hope this helps some.
