Oversized eye going cloudy

zimbu Aug 14, 2006 02:18 PM

One of my leopard geckos has always had one eye that was much larger then the others (I've had her for 9 years), and I thought nothing of it, as it seemed to be harmless. Recently though, the larger eye is starting to cloud over. Is this just cataracts associated with the fact taht shes getting older? or should I be worried? She's never been able to see very well out of that eye, but she has no problems catching crickets, shes just a bit slow at it.

Any advice/input would be appreciated, thanks!

Could be a number of things. Bacterial infection, external parasites or genetic. This could have been caused by way high or way low temps in the incubation process. I'd say take it to your vet. Hope I helped.

Oops, I am stupid. I didn't see that you said it was born with it. External parasites are out of the question then. I'd say genetics with normal aging process that makes it cloudy.

Ok, thats mostly what I was thinking too, hearing a second opinion on that really puts my mind at ease. Thanks!
