update on rescued blood and ball

sweetblood Aug 14, 2006 08:11 PM

well i know the owner of the pet store of where they guy tried to take this abused ball and blood and he held on to them for me untill i got everything all set up and he has been treeting them for mites. good news is he got both to eat yesterday blood took 2 little small pk mice and ball took 2 little small live mice. and both look 10 times better already. and the blood is actualy moving arround some and ball explores everything and seems like a new snake. they are home now in i think they are 28 quart rubbermaids. more updates as they happen. thanks for input also they are getting no pest strips tomorrow since they have worked for me before in the past also according to the pet store owner they both have been drinking quit a bit thanks again all

Good luck with them. If they start looking better and putting on weight you may not even need to pay for a trip to the vets.

Hey,
Awesome news on the feeding front. One word of caution with the NO PEST STRIP, is to watch for allergic reactions with the blood. They can have allergic reactions to it and it is a known fact with it. I have seen it with my own black blood. If you see oozing or excessive salivating from the mouth and or discharge from the nose, then I would caution you to remove the NP strip. Only use a very small piece of it inside of a deli cup with a few small holes cut in it. Use a hot nail or soldering iron to poke holes in the side of the deli cup. A good soak in about an inch of water along with some good old fashion dish detergent will work to remove the mites. Soak for a least 2-6 hours. Also, you should look into getting some Provent-A-Mite by Proproduct. It works great. There are other methods for getting rid of mites. People are having great success with Nix (spelling). It is a product used for getting rid of Lice in children or adults. Cheap and works too. Someone else will give instructions on that product as I have no experience with it.
All the best!

Hey,
Nice going! As long as there is no adverse reaction to it, it should be fine. Keep us posted. Also, I do recognize that little dude. He looks great! Nice job.
