Hi,
well usually they aren't exported from Australia (Torres Strait Islands)as Australia does not give any export permitts, but more from the southwest and south of Irian Jaya. The distribution of the black d´albertis (not d´albert's!) is all along the south of New Guinea, south of the central deviding range (plus Karimui). They occure around Port Moresby along the Owen Stanly Corner to Daru, Wipim and along the Fly River in PNG and around Merauke up to Timika and perhaps up to the south of the Onin peninsula in Irian Jaya, Indonesia.
PNG does not permit exports but Indonesia does. The CITES quotas for Leiopython albertisii are limited to 450 animals per year and most of them are of the northern or golden race. So you can imagine that it is quite hard to get black wlps and if you can get some wc's you first of all have to get rid of the parasites. If the wlps then survive you can be lucky and perhaps you'll have a "compatible" pair that will breed, on the other hand most of the wc animals will never breed successfully.
Anyway, the black d´alberts are quite nice animals and I'm also looking forward to next month getting one or two proven breeding pairs *smile*.
As I am in Germany I can not tell anything about Mark Lucas. I've never bought any animals from hin and acutally I do not even know him (but that should not be a reason!). Take a look at his animals. The price is about what I would have expected so if they look good, don't have parasites and seem to be healthy, get them!
All the best and good luck.
Cheers,
Wulf
