Tose look like super killer durangos are they mex-mex-X-greeri?

JETZEN Aug 14, 2006 11:40 PM

are they mex-mex-X-alterna?

vichris Aug 15, 2006 07:33 AM

They are plain old alterna. The Ex-Mex reference was because Alterna "used" to be grouped in the the Mexicana ssp.

They are actually from two clutches. The secound one is "pure" river rd. locale. The rest are from a river rd male and a non-locale female.

Thanks for looking

I believe that alterna and blairi are mexicana check out Robert Applegates website he calls GBK L.mexicana alterna if it's good enuff for him it's good enuff for me. Do you mind if i borrow a pic? thanks in advance

Actually, GBK's were taken out of the mexicana complex back in the 80's, I believe. I'm at work and don't have my papers in front of me, but I believe it was Gartska who elevated alterna to species level. Some people still refer to them as "Lampropeltis mexicana alterna", including Bob Applegate. but most authors use Lampropeltis alterna. the whole mexicana complex is need of some serious investigation.

Thanks Mike, I'll accept Applegate's opinion on this matter until someone convinces me otherwise and i have the Garstka paper on file and i will go over it again.
Do you not agree that some of Chris's hatchlings look to have a greeri influence?, strange for being full GBK, IMO.
Thanks again.

GBK's were removed from the mexicana complex. Robert Appelgate aknowleges this in any current literature and in person. He's not the authority on it anyway.

Here's some pics of the parents. No greeri influence. Yes you can use the pics.

Thanks Chris, and you do have a point, but i believe it's gonna change, it's just a matter of time.

Those are very nice Chris, in my opinion. One of these days I will take the plunge for some Graybands...

Those are beautiful. Always wanted to get into GBKs, but I've been hesitant, as I've heard that tthey're lizard eaters.
