??? albino question???

skatecoupard Aug 15, 2006 08:42 AM

I bred a carrot tail male with an albino female and the baby’s hatched yesterday and one of the baby's just looks normal and the other baby is purple and orangeish-yellow it kind of looks albino but not as light. I was wondering if it is possible for it to be a darker albino. If it is albino does that mean the the male is 50% het since the other baby is normal.

Unless your carrot tail was heterozygous for the same type of albinism as the other gecko (Tremper, Rainwater, Bell), it would be impossible to create an albino from this match.

Lower incubation temperatures can cause an albino to hatch darker.

Check the following Temperature FAQ by Ron Tremper.

Is your carot tail male a super hypo?
The baby is probably a hypo they hatch out alot lighter.
If it is an albino you would be able to tell be the eyes.

Oooh and is it is an albino the male would be 100%het. 50% refers to being a possible het. He would be proven.
