Espresso Pastel: After First Shed (pics)

bristen Aug 15, 2006 09:34 AM

I'm trying very hard to leave the Espresso Pastel alone until it eats... but it's not easy! Here are a few pictures of the first shed. As expected, some colors are showing up. What's interesting is that the color that is showing up is somewhat of a peach/salmon/pink color. As you all know, it's almost impossible to represent an animal correctly with pictures (and only a few of them at that).

Thanks,
Bristen.

What do the "normals" from the clutch look like?

Hi Dave,

In the clutch I had 1 Espresso Pastel, 1 Pastel and 5 siblings. In the 5 siblings, I believe I have 2 or 3 Espressos and 1 or 2 normals. As hatchlings, the Espressos and normals are hard to tell apart as they are not drastically different - but there is a difference. The adult female Espresso (mother of clutch) is quite different from a normal. She appears to be somewhat Axanthic. My current theory is that instead of having an abscence of yellow, it appears to be a reduction in yellow. Will have to wait a few sheds to see if that is what will happen or not. There are a few pictures on my news page.

Thanks,
Bristen.
