would you use it?

Hey guys, I have a bunch of left over stuff from a baby Red Tail that I had that died. It was only a few months old and got mites, which I took care of and it still died about a month after I saw the last mite.

I still kept all of the cage interrior stuff like cork bark hides, water dish, branches and stuff. Would it be safe to use this stuff for a new RTB that I want to get or should I just toss it all out and buy new stuff?

The stuff has been sitting in a plastic box for the last 6 months. If you think it's ok to use, what's the best way to clean off stuff like wood?

Thanks

Given the even slight chance of IBD I would just toss it.

Given the fact that the snake died of a mite infection, the possiblity exsists there may have been something else involved. Its a rare accurance that an animal subsides to an infestation of mites depending on severity of course. I think there may have been something else involved.

If so it may be a big deal a lot of diseases including IBD are serious and can remain dormate in bedding and caging for a long time before it re-shows its ugly head.

Given the fact that any of this could be at stack I would burn the rest what you had unless it can be sterilized. Even than I would still be weary.

I don't mean to accuse you of ill decisions, but I hardly think that the snake died of just a mite infection. Granted it could have been something outside of your hands, but some husbandry practices just need to happen to prevent the spread of disease. Disposing of the old and aquiring the new is probally the best idea.

Good Luck
