Identify this??

bigbarret85 Aug 15, 2006 06:11 PM

The spiny lizard forum hasn't been much help with lizard that I caught a few days ago. I think it is a Texas spiny lizard, but I'm not sure. Any help on the identity? Thanks in advance.

Looks as though it could be a female or juvey western fence lizard. Where are you from that would help alot.

I have granite spinys and emerald swifts, and enjoy the spiny family alot.

I considered it at first glance to be a western fence lizard, then I checked the "Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Repiles and Amphibians" and found out that westerns don't occur in my state (fort worth, Texas). I then considered it to be an eastern fence lizard or A texas spiny lizard. It is a juvenile, reaching only about 4 inches long head to tail. Any more information would be great. Thanks alot.
