Is this normal?

Table_Gor Aug 04, 2003 04:12 AM

My savanah seems sleepy like this for long periods. Is it normal for them to fall asleep while apparently climbing?

Not unless it's cold or sick. What are your temps?

Table_Gor Aug 04, 2003 03:18 PM

My temps are 80 at the coldest spot and 90 at the warmest. As for the "astro turf" I didn't start out with that. I got some fur bark stuff, but that made me worried about him eating it. Then I took all that out and put in dirt....that dried out really fast and and he would basically paint the cage with it. So I figured I would put the turf in and that way I could dampen it. If he's dehydrated I have no idea why. He has plenty of water and usually the glass beads with humidity. I'm really trying hard to do the right thing. What should I change?

Jack the warmest spot in the cage up to about 130 and report back to us in a week to see if he's still doing it.

Savannas are not normally found on astroturf.

Yours looks dehydrated. That will cause 'sleepiness'.
Hint: he is not sleeping.
Hint: astroturf is not good for monitors.
Hint: doesn't matter what your temps are, if he's dehydrating under them.
