Coconut always changing color :0)

PHEve Aug 16, 2006 05:04 PM

Here she is in a bit of a dark mood, pinkish, brownish and tan. I like her blue mood , so much pretty blue for a female.

I have to weigh her to see if shes big enough to meet Cadberry The scale I had was flat(my husbands) and she would not stay on, LOL shes a feisty one, ole gentle Cadberry is going to be surprised with this sassy lady,

Besides being sassy, she eats like a hungry truck driver, always coming to the door when you walk by to get a handout.

Coconut a big girl now

I am wondering how tame or at least how tolerant chams can end up being. You mention your girl coming by the door when feeding time, mine is miles away from being like this.He is a veiled and I have him in his new cage for 3-4 months now.I have him covered with sheet since he is really scared without it.Shall I expect him change attitude over time or something??
Please if possible some words on how a scared chameleon can end up so human tolerant.
Thanks a lot.....

My female veils are aways waiting for food at the bottom of their tree. If they're not there they're running down to met me.

I think with Coconut or alot of lizards that enthusiastically come to the door , it is just a trained response to knowing they are going to eat. She has an attitude and does not like being held or even touched.

The male who is older Cadberry is a gentle big guy who does not mind being touched , or taken out. I also have a male werners chameleon who eats from my hand only because I have always stood there handing them food do they do that. Or I let the bug climb the screen in any case they begin to asociate YOU with food.

Another thing that I read is wrong, but I I did it because of a lack of space anywhere else, and also because it provides the best temps, is I have all of my chameleons in our dining room, against a back wall.

They are in the midst of everything going on. They see dogs, Us, hear the tv, everything. I personally atleast for my chameleons do not see a problem, they sit out and bask and climb around all day, so long that sometimes I forget their lights should be turned off because they are still active at night.
They are not frieghtened by sounds, or seeing the other animals. And are more trusting and "Tolerate" us as well. They seem to know nothing bothers them and do not try and run or hide when you approach the cage, but so come closer.

yes I understand that it's a trained reponse. The only time I handle my guys is during breeding. Other then that they spend the day outside by temselves, no traffic, no nothing.

Gen'rals gathered in their masses,
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction,
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning,
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind,
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh Lord Yeah!

Oh my! She is just beautiful! What fantastic babies she and Cad will make!

dianedfisher Aug 17, 2006 08:08 AM

Eve, she is truly a little beauty. TY may have erred in selling her to you. I think maybe he should have kept her for breeding stock. She's just too beautiful. I know it will be a while, but I can't wait to see Cadbury's first successful clutch with her. Diane
