2 YR OLD SHARP STRAIN FOR SALE "HELP"

Randy Bush Aug 04, 2003 07:42 AM

I guess you all saw the ad in the classifieds last night for the 2 yr old sharp strain female boa.The ad states she came from Jeff Ronne @ the Boaphile.I talked to the guy Scott and he owns a reptile pet store in NY and said he got the snake from a customer named Jodi who states he got it from Jeff Ronne. He e-mailed me pics and she looks good but doesn't scream out "Sharp Strain".Well,I e-mailed Jeff Ronne and he said that he has never had, owned,or bred sharp strains. The animal is $2000 which would be a steal for a 2 yr old sharp strain but average price on a Kahl.Let me get some opinions please, and If anyone knows more about this.Thanks..

That's an investment snake. If you plan on breeding it and selling the babies, you have to be able to prove or guarantee the genetics. How can you possibly guarantee the genetics when the claimed breeder has told you that he did not produce the snake.
I think you already know you should walk away from the deal but in your heart, you really want a sharp strain albino. Isn't your reputation at stake? Do what you know is right!
Just my opinion, sorry if I'm too direct and honest.

With the condition of the market that every Sharp Strain Albino get sold overnight, with ton of customers waiting in line for the next one available, I am not surprise that any Albino will be a Sharp Strain. However, if Jeff Ronne already confirmed that he has owned/bred no Sharp Albino, I will take his words to the heart. Just my opinion.

As soon as I saw that I thought 'scam'... so since he lives in NY, I msg'd him saying that if he were to meet me in person I would give him cash for his animal, time and transportation. No replies yet.
I didn't even have to THINK about the statement of getting it from Jeff...
I mostly wanted to prove if it was even an albino or not... for that price, a Kahl strain wouldn't be bad...

another thing is, I was just scammed on a bad trade deal and have posted all about it on another site.
I guess in a way I was hoping to 'catch' this person too...

I e-mailed him and told him that I was going to decline on the offer.I couldn't in good conscience buy this animal when the claimed breeder has never dealt with them before. My instincts were on edge when I saw the ad but my hopes were saying "SHARP!!!".. Oh well,I think I made the right choice. Thanks for the replies.

The guy just e-mailed me back and said that Jeff Ronne called him and the original buyer and they straightened it all out.She is a KAHL strain. He said he did find a buyer, but I was wanting a SHARP strain;so everything worked out for the best.
