Choices - East or West?

mike17l Aug 17, 2006 05:10 PM

I may be running through the Trans-Pecos at the end of next week, on my way back from Colorado. I will hopefully be able to spend at least 2 nights in the Trans-Pecos. I want to find a male 277 and a male Juno Rd. Would my time be better spent looking in one of these locals, or would it be better spent looking farther west, say around Alpine? Is there much moving farther east right now to make it worth spending time there?

Well, the best chances for turning up a 277 or juno is of course out east, lol. I am sure there is a chance of finding one, especially with the rain Juno road has recieved. Has there been good movement? Nope. But then again I have not been out since all the rain we received.

Of course if you want to find alot more snakes, go west!!

I would think you would have a better shot on 277 than Juno any day of the week.

As long as you do not get run over by a drunk local or sleepy truck driver.

But this is just opinion... My real advice is to follow your instincts when you are out there. You have a pure luck factor to either cross paths with the snake or not. Beyond that it is all diligence and skill.
