What is going on with him?

One of my normal male hatclings shed (1st) with some weird discoloration on his head and neck. What would cause this?

By the way I am talking about the gray scales...it is kind of hard to see in the picture!

The ones that look white in the pic? Sorry, I really don't have a clue. Especially it being so young. I know older snakes will sometimes get off colored scales as the age. Will be neat to see if it progresses with age.

Sometimes the color doesn't fully develop in some scales - it usually comes back in after the next shed or two.
