It isn't "Ideas" that fail or succeed,... it is the "Systems" which are instilled to launch and sustain the idea that either fail or succeed.>[Me.]

They will inhabit the body of the next best animal if a suitable host isn't nearby. In my opinion they can transmit disease or illness as easily as a mite can.

The parasite of a warm blooded animal can't transmit a virus to a cold blooded animal that is maintained well below the idealic survivable temperatures that the virus evolved to exist in. Ergo: A virus that has evolved to thrive in 98.6 degrees would not survive in an environment markedly lower or higher in temperature. This is one reason why keepers don't get colds from snakes and snake don't catch our "common cold". Furthermore, I seriously doubt that a flea could gain purchase on the scaly surface of a snake or burrow under the scales to the tender, "bitable" skin. I also doubt that they would be inclined to try as they are drawn to warm blooded animals' temperature.

Actually I meant transmitting from snake to snake. I have heard that a flea will inhabit anything that moves when a preferred host is not available and they get hungry. I am not above being wrong though. I'll look into it further and get back to you whether I'm right or wrong.
