I recently got a baby corn snake, but my mouse colony hasnt produced any pinkies yet {2 males, 6 females} however, I have alot of fowler/american toadlets. Are they safe to feed to my cornsnake? I know that alot of toads/frogs are toxic when eaten by dogs or cats, is the same true for snakes? Please respond. Oh, and I don't mean to sound rude or anything, I just need the answer to this question, I don't need someone to tell me to go buy pinkies. Thanks in advance,
-Sara

PS: how, besides probing, can I tell the gender of my new snake?

toads are cool

toads are endangered usually in most areas.......

corns do not eat toads.........

toads are toxic to some extent.........

toads taste very bitter.......(don't ask)

get pinks.........

as for sex of snake?....where did you buy it?......they cannot tell?.......pet shop huh?.....they don't know much usually....(the one here does).........

you can tell by looking at tail actually......or post a pic here and we will tell you..............

find other people near you .......that breed mice (or snakes)..........

good luck..........JYReptiles

Thank you. I didn't want to end up killing the most expensive pet ive ever had, lol. I don't have a digital camera right now, but as soon as I do get one, I'll post a pic. our local petco sells mice, but only frozen rat pinkies. My new snake is very small. I don't even know if it can handle a mouse pink, let alone a rat one. And besides, I like rats, mice- not so much. I have alot of crickets for my frogs {and the toads} so I tried giving him/her one, but she/he showed absolutely no interest at all. It shouldn't be that much longer until the mice give birth, maybe one-two weeks at most. Can my baby corn wait that long? It's about 15 inches long, the width of a pencil.

PS: I bought my snake under the name "albino" but now I've learned that there are many kinds of albino. Is there just a regular "albino"?

I have to disagree with Jeff on the toad eating. I have seen Cornsnakes eat toads in the wild. Having said that I wouldn't recommend feeding toads. They are generally full of parasites. There are lots of places to get frozen pinkie mice. If the petco doesn't have them, you should be able to find another shop that has them. If not there are plenty of places to by frozen on the web.
