Could our Mystery Boa be a Costa Rican Boa? HMmmmmm....

What do you think? Our new PURE Costa Rican is on the left, he is a yearling, and our "Enigma" boa on the right is 4 years old now, but as a yearling was VERY orange like most Costa Ricans.......Hmmmm...

Can Cun...Costa Rican...Can Cun...Costa Rican....

When you first posted after you got him someone else brought up Costa Rican. I still will have to disagree simply based on imports. I don't believe anyone has yet bred Costa Ricans in the US, and the first group came in in '04 and each year since. So based on that, I'd have to say no.

I do believe there were some older verifiable stock in the country before '04, but I don't know if that is true, and if it is if they were bred.
However, that doesn't mean no. Logically it would, but things never seem to work that way.

Central American mix, imperator, those are two labels I wouldn't worry about. Locality is touchy though.

I know...I know... But we can verify the backgrounds on all of our BCI but this one...lol and its been drivin me NUTZ...lol I really love him, he is a beautiful boa in person, its just I don't know what he is...I guess he will stay an Enigma, and be our pet forever..lol

I was just bored, and thought I would do a side by side..I guess I will have to call him a Central American..

Looks like a Bluefield Nic to me.
As do all of the so-called "Costa ricans" that have become suddenly abundant.
Bluefields

Not a Bluefields. They have distinct saddles. Less of the circleback appearance with them versus other central american boas.

The Costa Ricans I got are prettier and where half the price of the Bluefields...Plus they came with copies of the Cities Paperwork from when they where imported.
