Feeding issues

wspatterson Aug 17, 2006 09:29 PM

Hi,
My leopard gecko seems to be eating meal worms and crickets fine, but I just got some pheonix worms and silk worms and he won't eat them. He doesn't even seem to recognize them as food. Any suggestions on how to get him to eat these critters?
Thanks.

Well, unfortunately you can't always get them to eat new insects you introduce. I tried Phoenix worms last fall, none of my 13 leos would touch them and I tried for over a month. Out of my 13 leos, I have 3 that refuse to eat Silkworms, they would rather starve to death LOL And I have 2 that won't touch mealworms !! Picky critters sometimes, I swear LOL

One thing you can try, I don't know your feeding schedule, but let your Leo go an extra day or 2 between feedings so it's really hungry, then introduce the new feeder insects and see what happens. I've had that work, but of course, not always
