Why not glass aquariums?

chico32826 Aug 18, 2006 11:24 AM

Hello,
I'm just wondering why glass aquariums are not recommended and the plastic ones are more recommened? I can understand why they wouldn't be recommened if you used a screen top, but what if you used a plexiglass lid for the aquarium to keep the humidity up? I'm just wondering bc I've seen a lot of articles of people that are very against glass aquariums. One of the main reasons I'm asking if bc I recently aquired a 75 gallon aquarim (for free!!!!) and was thinking an easy way to keep the humidity up is to just pick up some plexiglass and cut it to lay on the top of the tank (off coarse it would be secured so the snake couldn't get out and also holes drilled in it for circulation and fresh air.) Anyways, all help is always appreciated.

glass aquariums are great. They wont warp with overhead heat and wont melt/warp with an UTH .

You can place piece of acrylic sheet or sarran wrap plastic sheet on the screen to hold in humidity and adjust it to however you want.

Screen top you use those locl clips that clip on to the tank to and fantastic lock. Aquariuns are great and underrated .

Granted you cant stack them but if your like me and dont stack they are great .
