Enclosure backgrounds

k6mms Aug 18, 2006 03:06 PM

Hello all,

I am in the process of designing an enclosure for my neonate corn to move into when the time is right.

Does anyone know of a pre-manufactured, rock-like textured background insert? If not, what about using cork panels? Are they too aromatic for an enclosure?

Other than these, what do you all use for backgrounds in your setups? I'd hate to use one of those cheesy photo-deals that you get at Petco, but anything beats looking at a plain wall.

Thanks,
Lenny B.

The cheesy ones at PetCo aren't too bad.
They have a decent selection.
The basic tropical backgrounds look OK and I got a background for one of my tanks that is just rocks (no plants) looks pretty good.

I use to work at a college, and saw people use art students for many things. Maybe seek out a kid with good talents in acrylics, and paint the back (outside) to what you want, then seal it?

I had a kid do my log home before it was built in oil. They work cheap, and they may make it a class project so materials are basically free.

Might work?

Good luck

http://www.exo-terra.com/EN/products/background_i.html

I was looking around at the site for Exo Terra. In their products there is a backgroung. It is some neat looking stuff. It is black polystyrene so it should be fairly easy to cut to fit. I think that this site just shows the products they offer and you have to buy them from some other store/dealer, but I'm not sure about that.
