I own a European Giant Legless Lizard, and would like to know which is better to use to provide heat for him. I am currently using both for other reptiles that I have, and I do not know if the Giant legless is a basking type, or would rather have a warm corner of the tank without the light. I was told when I purchased him that since I was keeping my room at approx. 80-82 degrees, sometimes higher, that he would not need any additional heat source, and he was doing well. I was gone at a competition for several days two weeks ago, and I found out that the house was being kept, by my dad and brother, at 72! And since my dad is home constantly now with a broken leg, he refuses to keep the house at anything higher than 75! Now, I just noticed last night that my lizard makes a popping sound when he breathes, obviously he has come down with a respiratory infection, and I think that it is caused by the sudden low temperatures. He is still eating well, but I will have to get him to the vet this week ASAP.Any answers that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
