Everyone else is just about done~ my first clutch of the year is hatching RIGHT NOW! This is so much fun! I just love the pippies!

Two clutches of pastel X normal hatching right now~ I can't stop staring at them! So far three are out~ two pastels and one normal!

More pics when more come out! This is SO MUCH FUN!!!

very cool!!

just wondering, it's late season for the first clutch, do you start a later cycle or was this just a strange year????

This is only the second year I've actually bred any BPs~ so I don't really know. I'm in So Cal so it stays pretty warm here most all year. I turned down my racks last October and started breeding in Dec. I did have a couple clutches dropped before these~ but those girls were in a rack that had malfunctioned and lost heat in the spring~ the eggs were dropped obviously dead.

I have four more good clutches in the incubator~ all from girls in racks that did not malfunction~ the most recent one was on 8-3.

I'm still sort of holding out hope my het pieds will do something this year~ but I'm pretty sure I missed on them again. I saw the het pied male breeding girls in Jan, Feb & March~ but the het pied girl and all the normal girls he bred are currently eating as much as I will offer them.

I always wondered when people who live in year round heat cycled.

you can choose any month I guess.

I live in the northeast, so it gets cool mid-late sept.

snakes start going off feed if I don't turn on the heat.

so thats when I cycle.

I just had my last clutch come out yesterday(I'm going to post in bit), that was a late clutch for me.

I'm usually done by late june, early july.

well good luck
hope the pieds go for you.
