phooey...still looking for 0.1 Adult BRB

medyssa Aug 19, 2006 12:50 AM

So in my quest to find a new female breeder I have come across several options and all have failed to come to anything. The most recent one was because of my own lack of money. Instead of saving for a new BRB for my birthday I spent $$350 of birthday money (about a week and a half early).
$45 on an adult male hognose (to eventually breed with a small female I got for free)
$275 on a new camera that I have been wanting for about a year now
and the rest on gas for the next couple weeks.
So then, the day that I spend all of my money on things that I really like I find an ad on Craigslist for a 6 YO adult BRB, I call the guy and he says that it has been kept as a pet and has no clue of the sex of the snake. I ask him if he could have it sexed and I would try to scrounge up the $200 he wants for it. No chance in hell. If I could charge it to my credit card that would be fine. Fat chance at that.
In the end I had to call the guy and tell him that I didnt have the money for it now but I might in a couple of weeks and could possibly pick it up if it was still available then. Fat chance x2.
I have come to terms with this though, I need to wait for the snake, which is fine, especially since I have not seen a picture of this snake. I'm willing to wait some more though until I have the funds and the right snake pops up.
I hope everyone who is at daytona is having a grand old time. What a party that would be to be around a bunch of snake people for a whole weekend.
I am spending my weekend waiting (ever so patiently) to see if my first crested gecko egg will hatch.

Hey Jess, just be patient. If one is going to be available, it may be soon. After birthing season some may show up? Or decide on a 1 year old that will be ready to breed next year. I've seen ads for 05 holdbacks and even have 3.3 05's I'm planning on selling at the SJ or Sacramento shows. Don't know if I'll make the Sac show....no babies yet so I have not signed up for it yet.

On another note, I have to thank you for your search and posts. I was thinking about checking for an adult female (I check from time to time) when I saw a post from Brian Sharp on his baby Anery BRB's. He had just posted it and I was the first to reply and bought a pair, male het and female anery. He sold out almost immediately.

Hey Jess,

Funny. I was just about to e-mail you. I was speaking to a fellow snake lover today from Alabama. His female just dropped a clutch. Unfortunately, they were all stillborn. The female is fine and appears to be eating again but he is frustrated and is wanting to sell the pair. Since she just gave birth, she may not be able to go again next season but the year after should be no problem. Give me a call or e-mail me if you're interested. I can give you his number and you can get more details.

Make me drool, I was telling my boyfriend that Im going to save up to buy one or two hets from him next year. That will be about $1400. I'm gonna have to pick up every penny I find in parkinglots to get that much, maybe I'll settle for just one het. I always liked the greytones of anery red tails, but the rainbows are still my favorite.
This is Riley, Baby #4 from my first litter. I'm taking new pictures of everybody tonight so I'll finally post some Monday pics next week.

Jess,
...I did not see the snake for you at the Daytona Expo. I and a few others had small adult females on our tables but nothing big enough to be sure it would put on enough weight to produce a reasonable litter this coming season.
