All New CalciWorms!

spredluvin Aug 19, 2006 02:39 PM

I was strolling around the Daytona show when I noticed the Timberline fisheries display. I was going to buy some feeders, when I noticed a new type of worm. They have introduced the larvae of Hermetia illucens for sale under the name of "CalciWorms". I was remiss, and didn't note the price.

Those are soldier fly larvae, the most recent topic of discussion.

The attendant would not share any culture information. He stated that he had no authority to give it out, but that I should contact the company via the website for more information. He did tell me that they are NOT fed manure, and that their diet was entirely made up of grains.

Incidentally, this company has always been very courteous to me and have not gone out of their way to insult me or any of my fellow hobbyists. I just thought you all might like to know.

P.s. I have no vested interest in this company. I'm just a hobbyist.

Wow ! Super find! I just love competition. The potencial for getting better service, cheaper prices, maybe some info on breeding this variety that feeds on grain ( I'm not into gutloading feeders manure) and not be insulted in the process is very promising!!

Keep us posted of any more info.
