I feel like I am going to throw up - I am in a state of shock! I heard commotion from little Ana's cage and saw something running around under the dome light. It was her! I immediately grabbed her but she went limp. I have a non-standard screen top with 1/4" mesh so that UVB would easily get thru. She never jumped or climbed and the closest rock is about 6" below.

She must have somehow gotten up (jump?) thru the screen and got trapped under the dome! I forced her mouth open and blew in it pout of desperation. I also put her in cool water to try and bring down her body temp. I just didn't know what to do. I cannot believe I killed my little baby. She was 6 weeks old yesterday and was doing great. i am just sick

tHANKS, vALERIE. i HAD A KNOT IN MY STOMACH AND A SENSE OF DISBELEIF (oops - on the caps!) all day. I left her on her basking rock with the cover on somehow hoping she would be OK. Total denial. I put her in the freezer tonight and will bury her little body tomorrow

So very sorry this accident happened to your little anna baby. It's one of those horrible things that we seem to never quite let go in our minds, the guilt, the thought of it all.

*But hey somtimes these FREAK accidents happen, even though we have tried to do our very best in taking the best care of them as we possibly can and then some. I have a heavy heart for her, and you, just thinking about it, and thoughts of freaky things that I myself have dealt with over the years as well.

Not much anyone can say to make it go away, or seem any better lele, but offer our deepest sorrow for this sad and disturbing accident.

I know how much you try to give your blotchies the best of care. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, weird accidents happen.

You didn't mean to set up conditions which harmed your little baby. It was an accident. Hopefully, this will help to prevent any similar such events.

Have you got any more eggs hatching soon?

No more eggs, which for now is OK. In fact I think they may be brumating. I just posted regarding this.
