possible Snow Bogey this fall

dustyrhoads Aug 20, 2006 04:24 PM

I got five good eggs from a triple het x triple het (albino, silver, blonde) suboc pairing last week. We have yet to see a snow or snow blonde, and the only known albino blonde is Euro bloodline. Mine are from the Loma Alta bloodline of albino.

There's a 31.25% chance that a snow will happen from this clutch of five.

Craig Trumbower's triple hets are siblings and clutchmates to my 2.1 trio, so it's possible that his bred this year too.

Just thought you West Texas junkies would like to know.

Dusty Rhoads

p.s. 1rst pic is one of my male triple hets. 2nd pic is my adult male albino.

Very nice! Congrats on getting a "yellow" snake out of a "yellow" snake!!! I'm sure your snows will be really nice.
Does this Loma Alta snake originate from the Barker's via Don Soderburg by chance??

Thanks, but I'm not sure what you are talking about. If I do happen to get a snow, it should be as white as a blizzard morph, because the axanthics are devoid of any yellow whatsoever.

Yeah, the only amel suboc that I know of that was found on that Hwy. was purchased by Don and bred by Tracy B. Tracy and Don split the offspring, and the first hets sold for quite a chunk of change.

Several others have been found on River Road, though.

Craig Trumbower and Adam Sweetman bred those animals in the pictures, and so Don's original wild-caught male is these snakes' grandfather.

Todd Smith and Glenn Fankhauser are also in the race to create a snow, but they have a different line of albino...the Euro's. The Loma Alta and Euro lines are not allelic to each other.

Take care.

I wasn't referring to your possible snow that I definitely hope you get. I was just poking fun [sarcastically but definitely not offensively]at your adult male albino. Its basically still a yellow suboc. Hence, congrats at getting a yellow snake from a yellow snake. Attractive, but not inspiring like say an albino tangerine honduran or Ball Python or Western Hognose. Just my observation. No offense meant. Best of luck.

Well, sure. Subocs are still in their infancy when you're talking morphs, so the plain albinos that we have now don't yet compare to selectively bred albino tangerine hondos or albino spider balls, etc.

The albino bogeys haven't been improved yet through selective breeding.

Once they are bred into orange phase or red phased subocs or mustard blondes (like the animals below), then we will start to see some impressive albinos.

But the plain yellowish/peach albinos that we do have now are the key to making all of those other morphs. That's the exciting part, at least to me and to a few others who are working with them.
