Push biting......

rahl1972 Aug 20, 2006 06:27 PM

I have a question. The green female that was so tame in the beginning has started to do what I call push biting...and I'm NOT having it...to say the least. If you don't know what I'm talking about...it is the type of biting that rainbow and rosy boas do a lot of. The type of biting that starts off as the snake just gliding along your arm or hand like there is no problem and then it slows down and starts kind of pushing and rooting around in a spot and then all of a sudden it will bite and clamp down. Well..for me....after having it happen several times...it makes me very nervous about handling her at all. I really can't imagine having a anaconda at 8 ft or better that does this. Does anyone have any ideas as to why she would do this? I'm stumped and not sure as to what to do about it.

My spotted pythons have done that.....I just feed them a little more often and it seems to cure that.

That is what I don't get...she has been fed very well. To be honest I think I would like to slow her down a bit. I don't weant her getting too big too fast.
