All in all, a good show though the ball python morph mania consumed waaayy too much floor space. Beyond Doug & Lindsay, there wasn't much on the Uro agenda. One vendor was selling Ornate babies as "captive bred" for $125 each but I believe most everyone steered clear of them. One really good thing was the lack of wc malis that have plagued previous shows.
We did get a super green Ornate from Doug, which I'll try to post here. Upon getting home, we paired him with a recent female from Rick Millspaugh. After an hour & a half of circling, sniffing, licking & nipping, she accepted him. We're really excited about this pair-up. A match made in heaven.
I couldn't resist another Woma & also picked up a female blond Trans-Pecos to pair with our male. Loraine found a pair of gorgeous Gray-bandeds to round out the day.
Most of my picts really fouled out but, check some of the other forums. I'm sure lots of photo posts will be showing up soon.

NICE looking uro!
I shall repeat to myself "one uro is enough for our family" over and over again......
Glad to hear it was a good show.

It was a lot of fun, I was there almost the whole day on Saturday and half the day on Sunday. I went to the reception and auction and bought a few things from the silent auction. Met Doug Dix and bought a beautiful pair of malis from him, the male is banded and the female is occellated. They are from his breeding. Saw Lindsay, but he was busy with snakes, so I didn't talk to him. Doug was very friendly and informative, taking lots of time to answer my questions. I am still at my Florida home, so don't have my normal computer and camera set up. I will post pics when I get home to Wisconsin. I plan on going next year, so I guess I will get the hotel reservations early. I also bought a bearded dragon and am contemplating a redfoot tortoise and a Cayman Island cyclura. Maybe next year. Hope everyone who attended had a good time, wish I could have met some of you.

Hi,

Is it possible to show us the ventral face of your male and female Ornate cause i would like to compare my my owns , i'm not sure about sexing of mine .

Thanks a lot , bye.

Arredondo Aug 22, 2006 08:36 PM

By "ventral face" I'm assuming you mean between their little leggies, not their chins... I'll get a couple picts out this weekend.
Cajit, I don't feel that I can disclose even a ballpark figure on the sale. To do so without the seller's permission wouldn't be something I'd want to do. Having said that, rest assured that the lizard you're looking for can be found within the $300 range. Factor in things like cb/vs/wc (you can be easily fooled), age, acclimization, docility, etc. & the price can go either way.
And you KNOW, if you get one you've gotta get a pair. You'll never be satisfied 'til you do.
Looking forward to the day you get your Ornate(s)!

Arredondo,
I hear ya.Thats why I put the around figure. That's the exact colors and type of ornate I'll be looking to buy.I'm not going to just pick the first one I see unless it's what I want. How old is that ornate? He should help make some beautiful little uro's one day!

I will get a female ornate soon after I get the male.Probably within 6 months.I do plan on breeding them but not for a few years so it'll give me time to sharpen the husbandry skills and do a ton of research on breeding and everything that goes along with it.

That's one SWEET ORNATE URO

Have you named him yet?

There were Ball Pythons there? I must have missed them - LOL. I bet there was Boas there some place too. The majority of the BP Morphs are rather unimpressive IMHO. I saw the import Ornates at another booth but was not impressed with how they looked. It irritates me when no effort is put into caring for the animals; a bunch of Uros thrown together in a cold tank and fed when they think about it sucks.

That is a beautiful male! I do not recall seeing him. How old is he? I was going to buy one of the sub-adult female Ornates from Lindsey but the Boss pulled her veto power as I am traveling a lot and she says I am getting her in over my head. That young Hypo Ornate male was very cool too. Heck, I wanted darn near all the Uros at Lindsey’s booth; they are so awesome.

Some Blackhead Pythons were calling my name too but had to pass on them for the same reason.

Rick, every year I go there & drool & dream about Blackheads. Surely, I tell myself, I can pull 4K from SOMEWHERE!! It may have to stay a dream, at least until next year. Did you notice, though, most of the Womas & Blackheads for sale were dark to muddy? Looks like the lighter phases are being either held back or sold before the show.
I think Doug said the Ornate was an '04 baby. What with the jostling for position with all the other onlookers, I mostly just had a chance to say "Gimme that!!"
Next year, sneak out of the room before your better half awakes, bring your cash & credit card. You can DOUBLE your collection before she's even figured out what to do for breakfast!
Just kidding, Mrs. M! Kinda.
