New owner

I am starting to look into owning a tortoise. I am currently a veterinary student, but some how no one in my class knows a thing about these guys. I am a very responsible pet owner and will take this seriously.
I am looking to purchase a tortoise that stays around 6-8 inches. I will have room outdoors for him to roam supervised, but I am looking for one that will be OK in a large indoor enclosure.
Please let me know what some good species are that would fit me. I am also looking to purchase one as a baby, are there any reputable breeders you suggest?

Thanks!
Baio

George Ullmann of TurtleWorld USA in Florida is your best bet.

Hermanns, Turkish Greek, or Russian is your best bet. Check some of the other posts I have replied to on here to learn a bit on them.

Hope this helps.

I am a lover of the sri lankan star tortoise! I have a male that wont get as large as a female sri lankan- I heard the males can get to a respectable 8inches. My vet @ Tufts loves him too.
