Help, snake swallowed beeding

pezpunk Aug 20, 2006 09:34 PM

Alright short story is i was feeding my snake and she was wayyy too eager and took the thawed out rat before i even stuck it in her feeding tank. Because of this she ate it in her regular tank (i put the feeding tank right in her regular tank during feeding) because the rat was still damp some of the beeding stuck to it and she swallowed some. The beeding is reptibark, the pieces aren't that large, maybe nickel size, and she's around three feet. i was just wondering if this would cause any problems or if likely or not they're just get passed through?

Now this is only my opinion, and I may be wrong... But if your Dum didn't swallow that much bedding it will probably pass through fine. In the wild they aren't fed in steril enclosures and I'm sure they occaisionally swallow a bit of something else.

My dum is on aspen bedding and refuses to feed outside of his tank, so I lay papertowl down over the bedding and feed the rat over the paper towels and haven't had any problems todate. When cleaning his tank I have noticed small bits of what looked like passed aspen once in awhile.

I would say just to watch you Dum, make sure it doesn't become bloated in appearance and watch for a bowel movement within a reasonable time.

Thanks for the advice, what would be considered resonable time for fecal movement? It was a relatively large rat compared with my snake, made a decent sized bumb.
