Does he have a basking spot? Did he eat a large meal? If he made a movement, I'd be hesitant to say he's blocked. Probably isn't getting warm enough to digest. Can you describe his cage?

Are you using calcium with D3? I suggest getting it to a vet so it can be properly diagnosed. Vets can get calcium right in the blood stream with a needle. I think it's a calcium problem but no one here will be ablle to tell you for sure what is wrong.

I agree... it sounds like a calcium deficiency. Please take your baby to the vet right away. Calcium deficiencies can lead to much worse problems.

What is the temperature at his basking spot? It should be between 95-110 F.

You said you only had him a couple of days, how was he the first day you received him?

Mattman Aug 04, 2003 11:48 AM

Twitching and the seizures sound to me like a calcium defisciency. Get calcium in him. Put calcium in water mix it up and get him to drink it from a dropper or syringe, or go to a pharmacy and get liquid cacium. The second being the best. I suggest getting him to a vet as soon as possible, for a shot of calcium. Are you providing UVB lights for him? Are you dusting his food with calcium and d3? What are his temps?

get him to a vet, best bet you have, when these guys are sick there is no time to wait getting answers on a forum, no one can diagnose the problem here but rather just take a guess on what could be wrong with him. Get fluids in him such as pedialyte to keep him hydrated, and double check his temps in his enclosure, most important, get him to a herp vet ASAP. if you cant get him out to a vet immediatly tell people here everything about your setup, lighting, temps, what you feed, how old the dragon is,how large the dragon is, do you dust your food, what substrate is he on etc, and they might be able to help you at least until you can see a vet

God knows what the pet store was doing or the breeder before you. If the calcium level is low to begin with three days without it for a baby with such a high metabolism and only eating live foods high in phosphorus will do it for sure. Temps on the basking spot MUST be above 100 to digest 105-110 to be exact.

I have spoken with micky via AIM and we disscused everything he is going to get rid of the hood get clamp fixtures and get his basking spot up to par and he is going to his vet right now to see about his dragon.

i got him straight on the temps ect and expained that the dragon should be feed good greens and crickets EVERY DAY not everyother day liek the pet store person told him.

well every1 thanx 4 ur support but this thing was just clinging to lif so i decided to take him to the pet store cuz they said they would try to revive him so since i had a 7 day guarentee i got S.S.(Spike Squared)

I hate to tell you this, but if the pet store was not caring for the first dragon correctly, it is very likely the next one will devopl similar problems. This is why you should NOT buy from a pet store. I would suggest that when you bring the new one home you follow all of the suggestions in the above posts for getting him extra calcium BEFORE the symptoms appear. These two dragons had the same care, so I am sure he needs the calcium...depending on how long he has been at that petstore there may be permanent damage done that will not appear until he is an adult. There can be damage with no external symptoms at first. You should super dust his crickets with RepCal with Vit D3. Do not use any other brand of calcium. To superdust a cricket I wet the cricket before dropping it in calcium. You can also mix about .5 cc of repcal with 3cc of dragon pellet formula and feed him that from a syringe. The hood you are using, is that the one where the lights face eachother? Those are terrible because they do not have a focused basking spot, but they just heat the whole tank. You want the lights to point down directly at the basking spot so that it is the only place reaching such a high temperature.
