Carroting

lefty82 Aug 21, 2006 05:00 PM

One of my leos seems to be getting more and more orange at the base of her tail with each shed. Are carrot-tails born with an orange tail base, or does it develop over time as I THINK I am noticing?

I will take some pics soon.

You are right! It does develop over time. Most of the time you can't even see the carroting in their tails when they are born. Can't wait to see pics soon!

I posted pictures of Tamale showing the current progression of carrotting in her tail. I don't know how much more the color will progress, but hopefully it will keep going. Is it enough orange to technically call her a carrot tail? I heard it needs to be 15% orange. Any ideas?
