Mold on egg (first time)

DanPython Aug 21, 2006 09:41 PM

I have my first moldy egg. The mold started 5 days ago and we still have two weeks before pipping.

If I leave it alone will it be ok?

Should I clean the mold off?

Any suggextions from the experts.

Thanks,

Gary

ive heard of people using a sprinke of antifungal foot powder on the area affected, I have just wiped the area clean, other peopl have used the antifungal cream on a q-tip applied to the affected area only.

have you candled the egg that has the mold in it recently? It's possible that the egg went bad. I have a clutch incubating now that when laid all eggs appeared great. At about day 20 one egg started getting a little spot of mold on it. I wiped the mold off but in 2 days the egg had alot more mold on it. I then candled it and there were no more veins in the egg. The clutch is now on day 37 and that egg is now a big puff ball of mold. It is connected to 3 other eggs and will not come off so it's staying with the rest of the clutch. So far no mold has moved to any of the good eggs.
